Kent v Summit - May 2001

Scenes from another great rivalry in the making. Summit U-19 travelled to Seattle to play the then Kentwood Women in 1999. Summit won 21-5 after trailing at halftime 3-5. The two did not play in 2000 but did spend some good social time together in Milwaukee.
In 2001 the two met in the third place game at the NIT. After a score apiece in the first half the Krusaders All-American flanker Emily Graham scored of a nice lineout play and Kent looked like it sealed the victory.
Not yet...fellow All-American Sally Gentling broke several tackles and made a huge break before being hauled down inside the 22, but the Tigers finished after two quick picks Hanavan and company moved the ball wide to All-American fullback Anita Molina who touched down in the corner on full time.
Sudden death went the Kent way. After great defense by both clubs the Krusaders got a maul rolling at the 5 and Graham touched down her 3rd for the winner.
Great match and both teams celebrated together (left). Hats off Kent!
